ESPN College GameDay heading to SEC Championship in Atlanta for Georgia vs. Texas
The regular season is over but ESPN’s College GameDay is far from finished. On Saturday, the beloved college football show will be traveling to Atlanta, Georgia, for the SEC Championship between Georgia and Texas.
This is the second time this season College GameDay has covered a showdown between the Bulldogs and Longhorns. On October. 19, the crew traveled to Austin, Texas, to watch Georgia knock off the top-ranked Longhorns in dominant 30-15 fashion.
Now, Texas will have a chance to return the favor with ESPN’s College GameDay there to see it. The Longhorns certainly looked formidable in their 17-7 win over Texas A&M on Saturday.
In the win, Texas generated 461 yards of total offense while holding the Aggies to just over half that mark. Texas running back Quintrevion Wisner was a runaway freight train, tallying 186 rushing yards on 33 carries.
Quarterback Quinn Ewers completed 17-of-his-28 pass attempts for 218 yards and a touchdown while throwing one interception. Backup QB Arch Manning also got involved, punching in a 15-yard TD run for the Longhorns’ first score.
Alas, Texas wasn’t perfect. The Longhorns committed two turnovers in the win, including a pick-six, which was ultimately the Aggies’ only score in the game. Texas can’t afford to be sloppy with the ball against the Bulldogs.
In the two teams’ last meeting, Georgia forced Texas to commit a season-high four turnovers. The Bulldogs had no such luck in their narrow 44-42 win over Georgia Tech on Saturday.

Texas favored over Georgia
The game was a 12-round slugfest, requiring eight overtime periods for a team to secure the win. Georgia quarterback Carson Beck led the charge, completing 28-of-his-43 pass attempts for 297 yards and five touchdowns without throwing an interception.
After the grueling battle, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart revealed his game plan for helping his team recover in time for the SEC Championship game.
“All we can do right now is rest,” Smart said. “Our guys need a mental break. They need this day. I mean, tomorrow is one day. But it’s a day that we don’t know who we’re going to play. They need recovery. This was a really short week, and it was a tough week.
“We’ve got to turn around and play a stellar opponent, no matter who it is, next week. And it’s going to be physical. And I told the guys in the locker room, you can rub your bruises and pout and do everything to say, I could have done better, but you better get ready to strap it on and play again.”
Georgia and Texas will square off at 4 p.m. ET on Saturday. The game will air live on ABC.
