With Monday Night Football taking center stage as the Cowboys play the Giants, ESPN stated that they would not cut to Aaron Judge at-bats. The New York Yankees star slugger is chasing history as he attempts to hit his 61st home run of the season — tying him with the American League single-season record held by Roger Maris.

ESPN won’t cut to Aaron Judge during MNF

During Saturday’s slate of college football games, the network cut away from the game feed to show Aaron Judge’s live at-bats to give fans a chance to see the historic moment.

On Monday, ESPN has apparently opted to not do the same thing — vowing to only show footage of Judge if he manages to hit the record-tying home run on Monday. The Yankees are playing the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday night as well, with baseball fans eagerly watching every chance Judge gets at the plate in pursuit of history.

“ESPN will NOT be cutting into ‘Monday Night Football’ to show Aaron Judge’s at-bats. MNF will immediately go to highlight if Judge hits No. 61,” detailed Sports Illustrated‘s Jimmy Traina on the decision.
