Dallas Cowboys’ rookie linebacker Micah Parsons is a freak of nature. He’s blessed with rare physical gifts at the position that have have made him near unblockable in his debut season in the NFL.

His teammate, Dallas running back Ezekiel Elliott, gave his thoughts on why he’s such a problem for NFL defenses.

“There’s not a lot of guys who are 250 pounds and can run a 4.3. I feel bad for running backs that have to block him. The O-linemen can’t really do anything with him. He’s definitely a problem. I’m glad he’s on my team, let’s put it that way,” Elliott said.

Against the Vikings on Sunday, Parsons once again proved that nobody can block him. He was so incredibly dominant against Minnesota, the former Penn State product racked up 10 tackles, including four tackles for loss. Per the Cowboys’ team website, He became the first rookie in NFL history to have double-digit tackles in a game and four of them occur behind the line of scrimmage.

For his efforts, he was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week.

Parsons has played like a man on a mission to seek and destroy anything and everything in his path during his rookie season for the Cowboys. He’s made play after amazing play. You’d be hard-pressed to find a stronger candidate for NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year honors.

His current pass rushing grade is 90.2–the highest among all rookies. Check out the graphic from PFF.

If you happened to miss the Vikings game on Sunday night and just wanted to see a few of his highlights from the game, check out the post from Michael Gehlken on Twitter.

I thought Parsons’ play was beautifully described by Gehlken as a “missile on a mission”. Even though he’s just a rookie, he’s racked up 30 tackles (second on the team), and 2.5 sacks (second on the team) thus far in his incredible rookie season.

Former NFL safety Ryan Clark noted how the Cowboys’ coaching staff made a few small adjustments in the Vikings game. They decided to let another player call the plays for the defense and that freed Parsons him up. “What this did was let Micah Parsons be free, let Micah Parsons not think,” noted ex-NFL safety Ryan Clark on ESPN. “This is the best he’s played from the inside linebacker position. Micah Parsons got to bring this thing back to park ball. Run. And hit.”

Parsons next assignment in his rookie season will be stopping the Denver Broncos’ offense. Kickoff is Sunday at 1:00 PM EST.
