Five-Star C Aiden Sherrell postpones commitment date, remains down to 5 schools
Napa (Calif.) Prolific Prep five-star center Aiden Sherrell tells On3 he will no longer announce his college decision this weekend. He was originally scheduled to commit on Sunday, August 13th but has now decided to postpone.
“After careful consideration, my family and I have decided to postpone my commitment,” he said to On3. “I want to take more time to ensure I’m making the right decision for my future. My family and I will continue to consider the 5 schools, and I’m certain I will arrive at the right decision for my career in the near future.”
The 6-foot-11, 220-pound Detroit native is considering five programs — Alabama, Ohio State, Texas, Oklahoma, and Michigan State. He has visited each of his finalists, besides Texas.

He’s also the No. 4 center in the class. On3’s evaluators are much higher on him, ranking him 13th nationally in the class and No. 3 in his position.

Mizzou coach sounded off
Michigan State: “They said I could come in and be productive on both sides of the floor. They want to play me inside and out. Joey Hauser will be gone by the time I get there, so I could come in and help them out. They’re like a family there. They talk to my mom a lot, my who family, really. We have a great relationship that continues to grow. They’ve come to see me play a lot.”
Alabama: “They produce guys who are long and lengthy, guys like me who are very versatile. The relationship with the coaching staff is what brought me out there. I have built a great relationship with all those guys. When I got out there, I got to see the environment, the intensity of their practices is high, and that is why they are so productive right now. “They are still on me hard, even after losing all of their assistants. The new coaches got right on me. I definitely see that and appreciate that for sure.”
Oklahoma: “I definitely see myself fitting well in that system. They play through their big guys, and they trust them to facilitate a lot, which is something I want to do.”
Ohio State: “They let their young guys play; they give them the opportunity to get their minutes. They run a great program, and I can definitely see myself fitting into their system pretty well.”
Scouting Report
Aiden Sherrell has a muscular frame with long arms. His strong base allows him to establish a good position on the block where he is a good area rebounder. He is bigger than you think, and his length plays a big role around the rim. He scores it away from the basket, with 3-point range off the catch, and he can score with back to basket, finishing over both shoulders, in traffic. He has solid explosion, getting above the rim in traffic. He is a good rebounder, especially in his area. He is growing as an out-of-area and offensive rebounder. At this point, he is most effective playing from the inside out. He can push the break off the rebound and attack under control. There is a lot there, great natural tools, and has produced at a high level this season.
What intrigue Aiden Sherrell showed throughout April. This is something that has really been growing over the last 12 months, Sherrell has always had the pieces to his game, but he confidence to put it all together has been on the upward swing. At 6-11, Sherrell is averaging 13.5 points on 55.9% FG and 44.4% 3P with 1.2 blocks in 18.5 minutes a game for loaded (and undefeated) Vegas Elite team. You do want to see him rebound it better, but the trajectory he is on has been impressive to watch. – On3’s Jamie Shaw
