Isiah Harwell, a top-10 overall recruit in the 2025 class, has cut his list of schools down to four, he told On3. Moving forward, the 6-foot-5 shooting guard out of Wasatch Academy (UT) will consider California, Gonzaga, Houston, and Texas. He will announce his college commitment on September 12th.

Out of his finalists, Harwell has taken an official visit to Gonzaga and an unofficial visit to Houston. He has also scheduled an official visit to Cal for June 25-26th.

Previously down to nine schools, the Five-Star Plus+ rising senior will no longer consider North Carolina, Baylor, UCLA, Alabama, and Idaho State.

According to the On3 Industry Rankings, Harwell is the No. 7 overall prospect in the 2025 cycle. He’s also the No. 3 shooting guard prospect. The On3 Industry Ranking is a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Harwell talks finalists

In a previous interview with On3, Harwell broke down California, Gonzaga, Houston, and Texas.

CAL: “Coach Amarrow Morgan grew up with my dad. So he has been a really close family friend for a while. I’ve been talking with Coach Mark (Madsen). You know, Jaylen Brown went out there and had a lot of success, so it is an underrated school. It is always good if you can go somewhere, produce massive minutes, and change things around. They’re starting to play well these last few games.”

GONZAGA: “The atmosphere was great. I knew they had good fans, but I didn’t know they brought it like that. It’s a small school, but they definitely brought the energy. It was crazy there. My favorite part of the campus was Coach (Mark) Few’s office. I mean, he had so many trophies in there. Just being in there, you can tell he is just a winner. You know, going on that visit I was able to get closer with everyone there. I finally got to meet them all in person, so that was cool. The coaching staff, the trainers, the team, I got to meet everyone. It was amazing.”

HOUSTON: “The coaches and the players stand out to me. All the players who went through there, they’ve had guards who were first-round picks. And it’s a great camaraderie there.”

TEXAS: “The guards they have, how he lets them play. The coaches there are good. They are cool, really chill. It’s Texas they always give it the best shot, and they always go hard. The vibes are good there. They produce a lot of guards, and really good guards like Tre Johnson are committed there.”

Scouting Report

“Isiah Harwell is a complete shooting guard prospect. At 6-foot-5, he has good length and a strong lower body. Harwell plays at a great pace, he does not play rushed and seems to make great decisions with the ball in his hands. Harwell has good burst when attacking the basket, getting on the rim in the half-court. Solid handle, frame, skill, and IQ, there is a lot to like about the five-star. The shooting guard has deep range and confidence to score it when given space. His dad, Ron Harwell, averaged 14.5 a game at Idaho State in the mid-90s.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw
