WATCH: NFL Hall of Fame wishes Dallas Cowboys legend Emmitt Smith happy birthday

One of the greatest running backs in NFL history is celebrating his birthday on Sunday, with former Dallas Cowboys running back Emmitt Smith turning 53 years old. Considered one of the most iconic players in league history, Smith is still currently the NFL’s all-time leading rusher.
The official Pro Football Hall of Fame Twitter account decided to join the celebrations, wishing Smith a happy birthday on social media. They attached a video with some of the top highlights from the running back’s career before listing off some of his top accomplishments.
Smith and his three Super Bowl titles are highlighted as well. Below, you can watch the full video.
The Pro Football Hall of Fame inducted Smith back in 2010 as he went in as a Dallas player. He finished his career with two seasons in Arizona but will always be associated with the Cowboys. Smith had 18,355 rushing yards and 164 touchdowns. Even 18 years after his retirement, Smith’s records are still standing.

Smith ended up playing 13 seasons for the Cowboys, topping the league in rushing in four of them. His best year came in 1995, having 1,773 and 25 touchdowns on 377 carries. Despite being the top rusher in all three categories that season, Smith finished third in MVP voting but was a first-team All-Pro and voted to the Pro Bowl.
Before playing in the NFL, Smith played his college football for the Florida Gators. They have inducted Smith into their Hall of Fame as well for his accomplishments. He was drafted in the first round with the 17th overall pick. Smith will always be linked with his two other “triplet” brothers in Troy Aikman and Michael Irvin. The three offensive players started a dynasty run with the Cowboys and are now all members of the Hall of Fame.
