WATCH: Former Cowboys star Marcus Spears hilariously reacts to Eagles' trade for Robert Quinn
The Philadelphia Eagles made a huge splash on Wednesday by landing Chicago Bears EDGE Robert Quinn in a trade ahead of next week’s deadline. One former Dallas Cowboys star didn’t appear made his thoughts clear on his former NFC East rival landing such a big acquisition, though.
Marcus Spears, who’s now an NFL analyst at ESPN, simply leaned back in his chair and stared at the ceiling as reporter Jeff Darlington broke down the details of the trade on “NFL Live” on Wednesday. Last year, Quinn had 18.5 sacks to set a Bears franchise record, but only has one to his name this season after a new regime took over in Chicago. Now, he’s joining a Philadelphia team that enters this week as the league’s lone undefeated team.

Then, Spears sounded off on the move.
“Bruh, Howie Roseman got to be the damn Executive of the Decade,” Spears said. “You hear me? I don’t understand it, man. How do you get better? He did everything he needed to do this offseason. He got A.J. Brown and kept draft picks. Now, you go get one of the better pass rushers, Robert Quinn, who a lot of people don’t really talk about because of the team he’s been on. You add him to the Eagles, man, who already is an elite team trending towards being the favorite for the NFC representative in the Super Bowl. You add a pass rusher, a dynamic guy.

“Yesterday, the Dallas Cowboys add [Jonathan] Hankins, and I’m like, ‘Yes. We have fortified the interior of this line of scrimmage. We can defend the run.’ Because we got pass rushers. And I say ‘we’ because yeah, I’m in fan mode right now when it comes to the Cowboys. Then, Howie Roseman goes out and says, ‘I’ll raise you, and I’ll go get Robert Quinn coupled with already being an undefeated football team.’ I’m sick of it, y’all. I’m sick of it.”
The Cowboys traded a 2023 sixth and 2024 seventh-round pick to the Las Vegas Raiders for Hankins on Wednesday to shore up the defensive line. Dallas’ defense is having a big year, too, ranking second in the league with 14.9 points allowed per game and leads the NFL with 29 sacks. Philadelphia, meanwhile, has 17 sacks this year, and adding Quinn to the mix could help that number go up.
