WATCH: Larry Fitzgerald pitches crazy trade destination for Aaron Rodgers

One of the most popular storylines of the NFL offseason is the future of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Will he stay in Green Bay after 18 seasons with the team? Will he play for another team next season? Will his four-day darkness retreat push him toward retirement? Rodgers’ off-the-field actions are unconventional and unpredictable, former longtime Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald spoke recently about where he would go if he were in Rodgers’ shoes.

“Assuming that he does want to continue to play, I know there’s a lot of conversations about the Jets and if I was Aaron that wouldn’t be the most enticing route,” Fitzgerald said. “It would be something that would be a lot more controversial, like for him to go to the Dallas Cowboys or something like that.”

Going to ‘America’s Team’ would definitely be a controversial move for Rodgers, and one that hasn’t been overtly spoken about in the media as of late. Rodgers just finished the first year of his three-year, $150 million dollar contract with the Packers, a deal that made him the highest paid quarterback in the NFL. While Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott also has two years left on his most recent four-year, $160 million dollar deal.

Fitzgerald’s proposition creates an interesting ‘who would say no’ conversation regarding some variation of the Rodgers and Prescott trade, but also creates an interesting potential reunion for Rodgers and one of his former coaches.

“Where he can be reunited with Mike McCarthy and have a team around him that it’s ready-made,” Fitzgerald said. “Top three defenses in the league and a plethora of weapons on the outside.”

Rodgers and McCarthy brought a Super Bowl to Green Bay during the 2010 season, defeating Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLV. Both Rodgers and McCarthy have not made a Super Bowl appearance since, but could the duo be better together and make it happen in Dallas?

“Obviously, they have to make a decision with Ezekiel Elliot and his future, but hoping (Tony) Pollard is coming back and he’s healthy, I mean they have a really really strong offense,” Fitzgerald said.

Both the Packers and Cowboys organizations would have a lot to figure out in order to make a deal that involved Rodgers, but there’s no question that Rodgers in Dallas would be one of the biggest offseason moves to date in the NFL.
