WATCH: Former Ohio State, Wisconsin star Micah Potter honored with G-League award
Former Ohio State Buckeyes and Wisconsin Badgers big man Micah Potter received his first NBA G League award. On Saturday, Potter was presented with the G League trophy for making the league’s all-rookie team. And the former Big Ten conference basketball standout shared a glimpse of the trophy with this post.
After going undrafted in the 2021-2022 NBA Draft, Potter was picked up by the Sioux Falls Skyforce. And in his G League rookie season, Porter started and played in 33 games for the Skyforce. The big man went on to average 17.2 points, 9.9 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.1 blocks per game. And that level of performance and production landed him on the NBA G League’s all-rookie team.
Anyone who followed Potter’s collegiate career would be somewhat surprised by his results in the pros. At both Ohio State and Wisconsin, the six-foot-ten Ohio native was hardly featured and had limited playing time. In his 59 games at Ohio State, Potter started in 16 but only averaged 12.1 minutes per game. At Wisconsin, it was a slightly different story but still very much similar. With the Badgers, he would play in 52 games and start in 23. The difference came in his final season at Wisconsin, where he started in 20 of the 31 games. He finished that year averaging 12.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game.
Where 2022 NBA mock drafts project Malaki Branham to be selected
Malaki Branham: Lottery pick? One NBA Draft expert seems to think it’s a possibility.
Basketball News’ Matt Babcock said Saturday Branham’s name has been “buzzing” throughout the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago and he thinks there’s a “strong possibility” the former Ohio State star goes in the lottery during June’s draft. Branham burst onto the scene for the Buckeyes as a freshman in 2021-22 and helped lead them to the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament.

Alongside EJ Liddell, who’s also a potential first-round draft pick, Branham was a force for Ohio State. He averaged 13.7 points per game on 49.8% shooting, including 41.6% from three-point territory. His ability to shoot the three could be a big factor in where he falls in the draft June 23.
In three major NBA mock drafts — ESPN, CBS Sports and USA Today — Branham is a borderline lottery selection. ESPN and CBS Sports both project him to go No. 14 overall to the Cleveland Cavaliers while USA Today has him to the Charlotte Hornets as the No. 15 overall pick.
