Former Penn State punter Jordan Stout signs rookie deal with Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens announced the signing of fourth-round pick Jordan Stout on Monday. The former Penn State punter and kicker went No. 130 overall to the Ravens in the 2022 NFL Draft. He was the first punter drafted and the earliest punter drafted since 2012. He is now taking over the role from Sam Koch who retired after playing in the NFL for 16 seasons.

Stout’s new head coach likened him to Koch after the draft.

“You watch Jordan, and he reminds you a lot of Sam coming out,” John Harbaugh said. “It’s not just the leg strength is a part of it. A lot of guys have big legs, but they don’t have all the other pieces. So, you look in terms of the footwork, the technique, they get the ball out quick, the hands, the efficiency, where the drop goes, the ability to control the punt, right, left and then the depth of it. Those are all things that we look [at] with Jordan, and it reminds you a lot of Sam.”

Jordan Stout opened the 2021 season playing all three special teams roles for Penn State. He worked as kicker, punter and kickoff specialist before handing field goal duties off to senior Jake Pinegar for the final two games of the season. He led the nation in hangtime (4.36 seconds).

Over two seasons as the starter, Stout punted 95 times for 4,257 yards and had a career-long 76-yard punt in 2021. Over his career, he has 42 punts inside the 20-yard line with only four touchbacks and 28 punts of 50-plus yards. Stout also converted 34-of-36 extra points and 20-of-31 field goals over his career with a career-long of 57 yards.

Stout began his collegiate career at Virginia Tech before transferring to Penn State in 2019. He is a Honaker, Virginia, native.

Eight of Baltimore’s 11 draft picks have signed their rookie deals – safety Kyle Hamilton, center Tyler Linderbaum, defensive tackle Travis Jones, cornerback Damarion Williams, tight ends Charlie Kolar and Isaiah Likely, running back Tyler Badie and Stout. Outside linebacker David Ojabo, offensive lineman Daniel Faalele and cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis have not signed their deals yet.
