Maryland is expected to hire former Texas A&M, Arizona and Houston head coach Kevin Sumlin as tight ends coach, sources tell On3.

Sumlin was most recently the head coach of the Houston Gamblers in the USFL in 2022.

His most recent work at the college level came at Arizona, where he posted a 9-20 mark from 2018 to 2020 as the Wildcats’ head coach. Sumlin was previously 51-26 in six seasons as Texas A&M’s head coach after leading Houston a 35-17 overall record from 2008 to 2011, including a 12-1 mark in 2011.

Sumlin will replace Mike Miller, who was Maryland’s co-offensive coordinator and tight ends coach prior to leaving for the offensive coordinator job at Charlotte.

Maryland finished last season 8-5.
