Former Texas A&M quarterback Kellen Mond claimed by Cleveland Browns
Tuesday was a tough day for Kellen Mond, but Wednesday proved to bring greener pastures.
To illustrate, the former Texas A&M signal caller was cut by the Minnesota Vikings on Tuesday, the franchise who drafted him in the third round at one point in time. While the new regime in Minnesota didn’t believe in Mond, it’s evident at least one team does, as the Cleveland Browns claimed the quarterback on Wednesday.
“The Browns have claimed QB Kellen Mond,” tweeted Field Yates of ESPN.

Moreover, Mond only threw three passes for five yards during one game for the Vikings last year. He had played okay in Minnesota’s 2022 preseason games, though, with no real flashes. Mond threw for a 56.9% completion percentage for 303 yards and a pair of touchdowns. In the end, it wasn’t enough to keep his spot on the roster.
Minnesota drafted Mond in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft after four years in College Station. During his career at Texas A&M, Mond threw for over 9,600 yards and rushed for an additional 1,609. He totaled 71 touchdowns with his arm and 22 more with his legs.

Continuing, perhaps one of the reasons why the Browns brought Kellen Mond to Cleveland was the perfect pass he threw during the Minnesota Vikings’ preseason opener. With his team trailing by two possessions late in the fourth quarter, Mond stepped back to throw a 20-yard touchdown pass that fell right into the hands of Albert Wilson.

The pass completed what was a perfect drive for Mond, as he went 5-for-5 for 71 yards. It also brought the Vikings within one touchdown, cutting the Raiders lead to 26-20.
Now, Kellen Mond will be looking to make similar plays wearing a different uniform. Time will tell if things work out better for the former Texas A&M star in Cleveland with the Browns.
