Four-star wide receiver Daylan McCutcheon of Lucas (TX) Lovejoy High has narrowed his list to 8 schools.

The 6-foot, 175 pounder is down to the following: Ohio State, Florida State, USC, Florida, Texas, SMU, Stanford, and Tennessee.

Breaking down the finalists

McCutcheon discussed what stood out about each school with On3.

Ohio State- They made my top 8 because of the strong relationship I share with coach Hartline and the coaching staff. After going up to the Ohio State vs Penn State game I loved the atmosphere and the high speed pace of the game and highly considered this school.

Florida State- Ever since going to their camp in the summer, it made me fall in love with the campus and the coaching staff and the way they tried coaching me up during my reps. It made me feel like home. Also after going to watch them play LSU, and Miami. I loved how loud the atmosphere was and how it made me feel like one of them and plus I love the state of Florida and have family ties to it.

USC- They have always been a school I wanted to go to since I was young and especially with coach Riley and coach Simmons makes it even better considering them being coaches at OU. I love how coach Simmions coaches up his WRs and he even did that to me when I went on a visit to USC. I love how small the campus is and it’s almost like it’s isolated.

Florida- I love Florida’s history in the past on being one of the top schools and I liked them when I was younger as well. I’m very impressed with the coaching staff that they have and they also have a beautiful campus. Another plus for them being in my top is them having a top qb at their school in the 24 class.

Texas- They are my hometown team and I feel as if it would feel wrong to leave out Texas. They have a great system on bringing in QBs which really peaks my interest in them.

Smu- They have always been showing interest since my freshman year and I consider them highly because they are close to home and I love their system.

Stanford- They are in my top 8 because of their high academics, and I would consider them by me going the engineering course. Knowing that I have a good support system and being able to play power 5 football.

Tennessee- I love how their campus is and how loud and electric their stadium gets during football games. I love how their system is run offensively at Tennessee and love the connection I have with the coaches.
