WATCH: Frank Gore delivers an epic knockout in his first professional fight
Future NFL Hall of Famer Frank Gore has hung up his cleats on the football field but has gotten his feet wet in the world of boxing within the last year. While his first fight against Deron Williams did not go well at all, Gore redeemed himself tonight after delivering an epic knockout of Yaya Olorunsola on Saturday night.
On his 39th birthday, the NFL legend delivered a vicious right punch at point blank range that saw Olorunsola drop straight to the canvas.
The fight was in Biloxi, Mississippi, and it was officially Gore’s pro boxing debut. So not only was the knockout Gore’s first as a boxer, but he also earned his first professional boxing victory.
Gore began his NFL career with San Francisco in 2005 and started 134 career games with the 49ers alone in his ten years with the team. He went on to play another six seasons in the NFL with four other teams, finally retiring after 16 years as a running back at the professional level. Gore’s incredible longevity and work-horse usage as a running back earned him the third-most career rushes and rushing yards in NFL history, with 3,735 rushes for an even 16,000 yards.

Frank Gore’s son, Frank Gore Jr., currently plays for the Southern Miss Golden Eagles. Last season, the former three-star prospect shredded opposing defenses to the tune of 801 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 179 attempts. The standout tailback even had to step in at quarterback for Southern Miss against Louisiana Tech–he tossed a 39-yard touchdown pass. The 5-foot-8, 185-pounder completed four of eight passes for 75 passing yards, while tossing in two touchdowns and one interception. The performance helped fuel a resounding 35-19 victory for Southern Miss over the Bulldogs.
In the 2020 season, he rushed for over 700 yards on just 121 attempts, averaging 5.9 yards per carry. The Miami, Florida native found the end zone twice as a runner and once as a receiver that year, too. According to the On3 Consensus Rankings for the 2020 class, he was rated as the No. 99 running back prospect in America.
