Grand jury indicts Alvin Kamara and three others for alleged nightclub beating

A grand jury in Clark County (Las Vegas, Nevada) indicted New Orleans Saints’ star running back Alvin Kamara and three others for an alleged beating outside of a Las Vegas nightclub last year. They were indicted on Wednesday afternoon, according to David Charns of 8newsnow.com. Kamara, Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Chris Lammons, and two other men face criminal charges surrounding the incident outside of a strip club on Feb. 5, 2022, during the NFL’s Pro Bowl weekend. The indictment means the criminal case will immediately bypass Las Vegas Justice Court and move to district court. A judge set a court date for March 2nd.

The grand jury indicted the four men Wednesday on charges of conspiracy to commit battery and battery resulting in substantial bodily harm. The victim’s name in the case is Darnell Greene. His shoulder, neck, and back were injured. His orbital lobe was also broken during the incident.

Greene has also filed a civil lawsuit in the state of Louisiana. Videos and an audio recording taken in an SUV after the alleged assault have not been released. The lawsuit includes still images from surveillance video and transcription of the audio recording.

“Immediately after the vicious beating, Kamara bragged about it with a member of his group, stating, “I connected with the [expletive’s] jaw so hard,” the lawsuit claims.

The Las Vegas Police Department reportedly informed the NFL hours before the Pro Bowl that Kamara was a suspect in a felony battery. Despite the allegations, the LVPD and NFL agreed to allow Kamara to play in the game – and he was later arrested afterward.

Babcock reported that after the Pro Bowl, Kamara was mirandized, told his side of the story to police officers and was ultimately taken into custody.

Cincinnati Bengals’ cornerback Chris Lammons was also arrested and charged with a felony and a misdemeanor. Lammons faced a felony count of battery resulting in serious bodily harm and a gross misdemeanor count of conspiracy to commit battery.

If Alvin Kamara is found guilty and/or receives a suspension from the NFL, the Saints would no longer be obligated to pay out his contract.
