The Green Bay Packers reportedly agreed to trade former Wisconsin offensive lineman Cole Van Lanen to the Jacksonville Jaguars early on Tuesday, with initial reports indicating an undisclosed draft pick would be sent back. ESPN’s Adam Schefter now reports the pick will be a 2023 7th-round selection.

Van Lanen is going into his second year in the NFL after going No. 214 overall in the sixth round to the Packers in last year’s draft. He was the first offensive lineman drafted out of Wisconsin by Green Bay since 2001.

The 6-foot-5, 283-pound lineman is a Green Bay, Wisconsin native and played four years for the Wisconsin Badgers. He made 19 starts over his career with 18 coming in his last two seasons.

In 2021, Van Lanen saw game action in one matchup after signing to the Packers practice squad in September. It’s unclear which draft pick Green Bay is getting from Jacksonville in return for the lineman but his time with the Pack is over, for now.

The Packers have one more preseason matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs Thursday, Aug. 25 as they get closer and closer to filling out their 53-man roster for the season.

Packers release center, linebacker

The Packers started the week with a couple of releases. Following their preseason week two matchup versus the New Orleans Saints, the team released center and former Arkansas Razorback Ty Clary and linebacker Chauncey Manac, who attended Lousianna Layfayette.

Clary was a versatile lineman at Arkansas, getting snaps at right guard, left guard, and center throughout his collegiate career. In his senior season, he posted a team-high team-high 74.7 run-blocking grade according to Pro Football Focus, as he was a big part of Arkansas’ lethal rushing attack and their best season since 2011.

Manac was an under-recruited prospect out of Homerville, Georgia. He attended Garden City Community College out of high school before signing with the Rajin’ Cajuns his redshirt sophomore year. In 2021, his senior season at ULL, he was Second Team All-Conference in the Sunbelt. He helped lead the Rajin’ Cajuns to a conference championship.
