Green Bay Packers announce multiple offensive staff changes

Changes are coming to the Green Bay Packers after falling short of Super Bowl expectations. Offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett accepted a head coaching role with the Denver Broncos, while quarterbacks coach Luke Getsy took the Chicago Bears offensive coordinator job.
Green Bay head coach Matt Lafleur announced more changes to the offensive staff on Tuesday. This comes after Adam Stenavich was promoted internally to take over as offensive coordinator.
The first of which is Jason Vrable getting promoted to wide receivers/passing game coordinator. Vrable has spent 10 seasons in the NFL and just completed his third with the Packers organization. Previously, his job title was just wide receivers coach, having the role for the past two seasons. Vrable came to Green Bay via the New York Jets, serving as an offensive assistant in 2019.
Next up, Luke Butkus will be the new offensive line coach. Butkus has been on staff for three seasons as well, working as an assistant offensive line coach since 2019. He was hired away from the University of Illinois, where he also played his college ball.
Replacing Butkus as assistant offensive line coach will be Ryan Mahaffey. He has been with the Packers organization for a shorter period than the other two, serving as an offensive quality control coach for just one season. Before Green Bay, Mahaffey was the offensive coordinator at FCS program Northern Iowa.

Finally, Connor Lewis is taking a step up, being promoted to assistant quarterbacks coach. Lewis has been with the Packers for seven years, joining in 2016 to help “the offensive coaching staff in data analysis, playing rules and game management.” He spent last season as the special teams assistant/game management specialist. Now, Lewis will get bumped up to the offensive staff to help coach whoever may be Green Bay’s quarterback next season.
Green Bay announces next offensive coordinator
According to Ian Rapoport, the Packers will promote Adam Stenavich to the position. Stenavich is the Packers’ offensive line coach and has held that position since 2019. His work with the offensive line speaks for itself as he was able to keep Aaron Rodgers upright and protected the majority of the year despite dealing with multiple injuries along the line. Rodgers finished the season as the 20th most sacked quarterback in the NFL, after being sacked just 30 times on the year.
Another possible move thanks to the butterfly effect of Hackett’s departure and the Packers promoting Stenavich, is the future of tight end coach Justin Outten. The Green Bay positional coach is expected to be a prime target for the Denver Broncos offensive coordinator position.
