Report: Green Bay Packers name offensive coordinator following Nathaniel Hackett's departure

The Green Bay Packers just lost offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett. And on Saturday, news broke that they would lose quarterback coach Luke Getsy to a NFC North rival in the Chicago Bears. Getsy was believed to be a top candidate for the Packers vacancy at offensive coordinator but instead chose to take that position with the Bears. But fans of Green Bay do not fear, as they have already found their new offensive coordinator.

According to Ian Rapoport, the Packers will promote Adam Stenavich to the position. Stenavich is the Packers’ offensive line coach and has held that position since 2019. His work with the offensive line speaks for itself as he was able to keep Aaron Rodgers upright and protected the majority of the year despite dealing with multiple injuries along the line. Rodgers finished the season as the 20th most sacked quarterback in the NFL, after being sacked just 30 times on the year.

Another possible move thanks to the butterfly effect of Hackett’s departure and the Packers promoting Stenavich, is the future of tight end coach Justin Outten. The Green Bay positional coach is expected to be a prime target for the Denver Broncos offensive coordinator position. 

Chicago Bears made Green Bay Packers assistant top target

Earlier on Friday, it was reported Packers pass-game coordinator Luke Getsy could be a candidate to become Chicago’s offensive coordinator and play-caller, according to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer. Getsy has been with the Packers since 2014 — with a stop at Mississippi State in 2018.

Later in the day, longtime Green Bay Packers writer Tom Silverstein reported the Bears had officially made an offer to Getsy.

On Thursday, the Bears became the second team to make an offseason hire by inking a deal with former Indianapolis Colts’ defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus to lead the organization.

With a defensive-minded head coach taking over a team with a young, talented first-round quarterback in Justin Fields as the hopeful future franchise passer, it appears the new Chicago Bears front man isn’t wasting time to address his development.
