Green Bay Packers planning to cut special teams ace Ty Summers
The Green Bay Packers are expected to cut linebacker Ty Summers days before the NFL’s mandatory 53-man roster-cut deadline, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Summers was the heart and soul of the Packers special teams, and the decision has come a somewhat of a surprise.
Summers was drafted by the Packers in the seventh-round of the 2019 NFL Draft, and has carved out a niche role for himself on the team since. While he sees action every now and again on the defensive side of the ball, he has truly excelled in the special teams departments, leading the team in special teams tackles the previous two seasons.
The TCU product is expected to receive interest in the waiver wire, and is expected to make an impact on special teams right away wherever he may land.
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur provides update on Christian Watson Week 1 status
The Green Bay Packers have wrapped up their final week of the NFL preseason but still have a few questions that need answering on the offensive side of the ball. And after their last game, the Packers have another question that needs answering. Second-round pick Christian Watson did not play in the team’s preseason finale on Thursday, which has fans concerned. Recently head coach Matt LaFleur addressed his top offensive acquisition from the draft missing Thursday’s game.

“Our medical staff thought it would be in his best interest to give him two more weeks before we put him in a game situation,” said LaFleur, according to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky.
One of the biggest questions surrounding the Packers this season is what will their passing game look like. Both of NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers‘s top receiving threats from last season are in new homes, leaving massive holes in production to be filled. Green Bay addressed that issue this offseason, selecting three wide receivers in the 2022 NFL Draft. While most of the young wide receiver core has been hard at work on the practice field, getting familiar with the Packers playbook, Watson has been sidelined recovering from offseason surgery on his knee.
