To prevent the Saints from having to go with their nuclear option, the team has added some veteran help at the position. Former UCLA Bruins quarterback and Green Bay draftee Brett Hundley has been signed to New Orleans’ practice squad.
Hundley was the fifth-round pick by the Green Bay Packers back in the 2015 NFL Draft. Just two years after he was selected, in 2017, the former Bruins signal caller got his opportunity to start for the Packers after Aaron Rodgers went down with a broken collarbone.
Unfortunately for Hundley, we did not make much of an impact as Rodgers backup and soon found himself out of Green Bay’s quarterback rotation in favor of 2020 first-round pick Jordan Love.
For his career, Hundley has played in 18 games, throwing for 1,902 yards with nine touchdowns and 13 interceptions. Since leaving the Packers, the 29-year-old veteran has spent time with the Seattle Seahawks, Arizona Cardinals, Indianapolis Colts, and Baltimore Ravens. He spent this year’s training camp with Baltimore before being released by the team in mid-August as they cut down to their regular season 53-man roster.
