The Green Bay Packers have used their No. 179 pick in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL draft to take Kingsley Enagbare from South Carolina.

Late-round picks are often glanced over and disregarded for the headline picks of the first and second rounds of the draft. But given green bay’s history, those picks have turned into pro bowl offensive linemen David Bakhtiari, Corey Lindsey, and running back Aaron Jones.

Day three draft picks are hit and miss. At this juncture in the draft, an overreach can be just as impactful as in the earlier rounds. However, the perfect pick here could catapult your team into the Super bowl. With the Packers taking Enagbare in the fifth round, only time will tell whether he will be a quality pick like offensive lineman Royce Newman. Or quickly phase out of the Packers’ future plans like wide receiver J’Mon Moore.

The Packers still need to add more depth to their roster. In the back end of the draft is an ideal place to do so. With Green Bay still having a few more picks in the later rounds, they could possibly add another body to their offensive line or defensive line rotation after losing a few pieces this offseason. Green Bay lost Lucas Patrick to the Chicago Bears (967 snaps) and Billy Turner to the Denver Broncos (866 snaps) in free agency. Green Bay will also need to add a pass rusher to replace the elite production of Za’Darius Smith, who departed via free agency to the Minnesota Vikings.

The Super Bowl window is closing for the Green Bay Packers and MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Which is why this draft is one of the most critical drafts in recent Packers history. Green Bay finished last season just shy of the NFC championship game after falling to the San Francisco 49ers at home 13-10. Since then, the Packers have had to make some tough choices this offseason, including trading away all-pro wide receiver Davante Adams. Green Bay had a few holes to plug up heading into this draft. Only time will tell if Brian Gutekunst worked his draft magic again, helping the Packers finally get over the playoff hump, or whether it’ll be another early exit next season.
