Houston Texans cut former second-round pick out of Clemson
The Houston Texans announced on Tuesday that they released former Clemson star TJ Green from the roster, via a press release. The five-year NFL veteran played one game for the franchise after being cut by the Atlanta Falcons midway through the season.
Green now joins the free agent market and is free to negotiate with any team in the league ahead of the 2022 season. The former No. 57 overall pick from the 2016 NFL Draft announced his plan to retire in 2018 before returning with a new team in 2019.
Over his NFL career, TJ Green has played for five teams including the Indianapolis Colts, Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons and Houston Texans. He has 103 career tackles with five tackles for loss and five quarterback hits at the safety position.
In the 2013 recruiting class, Green came to Clemson as a three-star prospect from Alabama. He ranked No. 889 in the On3 Consensus and initially signed on to play wide receiver before making a position switch which helped him reach the NFL.
Houston Texans trade former Clemson star
The Houston Texans are trading Deshaun Watson to the Cleveland Browns, according to multiple reports. The offseason mega-deal ends the year-long saga between the Texans and their star quarterback, who requested a trade this offseason.
The details of the trade were released on last week and the Cleveland Browns will be trading three first round picks and three additional picks to the Houston Texans, per the revised terms of the deal.

Watson has thrown for 14,539 yards, 104 touchdowns, and 36 interceptions in his four-year NFL career so far. Watson also has 17 rushing touchdowns. He is a three-time Pro Bowler with 28 career wins.
His best season with the Texans came in 2020 when he completed 70.2% of his passes for 4,823 yards and 33 touchdowns. Houston went just 4-12 that season — Bill O’Brien’s last as head coach.
The Watson trade took much longer than initially anticipated after he was accused of more than 20 counts of sexual misconduct. While the grand jury heard his case and opted not to press criminal charges, clearing the way for the trade, he still faces civil lawsuits and could face as suspension from the NFL upon return.
The deal provides the Texans with plenty of draft capital to invest in its full-scale rebuild, while the Browns receive one of the NFL’s top quarterbacks. Despite an offseason dispute with current quarterback Baker Mayfield, who recently requested a trade, the team remains primed to compete in the AFC North.
