As the NFL Draft approached, the big questions were where Jimmy Garoppolo and Baker Mayfield would end up. Well, fans might have to wait until after the draft.

The Houston Texans could be interested in Garoppolo or Mayfield despite liking what they see from Davis Mills, according to The Athletic’s Jeff Howe. No deal has been closed yet, but Howe added a post-draft trade might not be out of the question for either quarterback.

The Texans aren’t the only team in on the two quarterbacks. The Seattle Seahawks and Carolina Panthers are also expressing interest, and the draft will determine a lot about both players’ futures.

Drama brewed between Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns all offseason and he requested a trade on March. 17. The Browns also acquired Deshaun Watson, which means it’s looking more and more likely Mayfield is on his way out the door in Cleveland. His name has come up in trade rumors all offseason, but it’s sounding like the draft could determine a lot about his future.

Garoppolo, who started his career with the New England Patriots, emerged as a likely trade candidate this year after the San Francisco 49ers drafted Trey Lance last season. San Francisco and coach Kyle Shanahan seem high on Lance, and he didn’t play much as a rookie last season while Garoppolo served as the starter. But with Garoppolo on the trade market, Lance might be getting his chance to become the 49ers’ starting quarterback in 2022.

Report: NFL insider reveals the latest regarding Panthers interest in Baker Mayfield

If Baker Mayfield is traded before Thursday’s NFL Draft, it won’t be to the Carolina Panthers. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Panthers aren’t expected to trade for the embattled Cleveland Browns quarterback before Thursday’s NFL Draft, if Carolina wants to trade for him at all.

“The #Panthers are not expected to trade for #Browns QB Baker Mayfield prior to the first round of the NFL Draft, sources say, if they do it at all,” tweeted Rapoport. “Thursday has to play out first, before any other options are considered. Carolina picks No. 6.”

With a hole at quarterback remaining, Mayfield has been theorized to have a perfect landing spot with the Panthers. However, neither side seem to be enthused about a possible partnership. Earlier this month, it was reported that there was a “mutual disinterest” between the former Oklahoma star quarterback and Carolina.
