The Jacksonville Jaguars have placed wide receiver DJ Chark on injured reserve. Chark suffered a fractured ankle in the Jaguars’ Thursday Night Football loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

The injury was suffered when Chark’s left leg was rolled up on during a play.

Prior to suffering the injury, Chark had seven receptions on 22 targets for 154 yards and two touchdowns on the season. This season is the fourth of Chark’s NFL career with the Jaguars. As a rookie in 2018, Chark had just 14 receptions for 174 yards. He broke out in 2019 with 73 receptions on 118 targets for 1,008 yards and eight touchdowns. Last season, Chark had 53 receptions for 706 yards and five touchdowns.

The former LSU Tigers wide receiver was selected with the 61st overall pick in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Chark played in three seasons at LSU, although he didn’t have a role on offense until his final two seasons.

In 2016, Chark had 26 receptions for 466 yards and three touchdowns for the Jaguars, adding 12 rushes for 122 yards and two scores for LSU. Chark had 40 receptions for 874 yards and three touchdowns in 2017, adding 12 rushes for 63 yards and a score.

Chark has already been impacted by injuries this season

Prior to the regular season, Chark had surgery for a fracture in his finger. Chark was able to return for Week 1.

“He had surgery on his finger,” NFL Network’s Scott Hanson reported in the offseason. “This, coming pretty recently, had a little bit of a hairline fracture in his finger. Nothing to worry about. The Jaguars do expect Chark back before Week 1. No issues here. Probably more of an issue is they really wanted him to get the reps with this new coaching staff to make sure he can hit the ground running when the season begins.”

The Jaguars also placed offensive lineman AJ Cann on injured reserve alongside Chark on Monday.
