Jaguars rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence suffers injury
The Jacksonville Jaguars’ worst nightmare happened on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills. Rookie quarterback and the most recent first overall pick Trevor Lawrence went down with an ankle/lower leg injury.
Lawrence dropped back and threw a pass, and it appeared as if one of his offensive linemen stepped on his ankle after the throw. He fell to the ground before being helped off the field. Lawrence did not go to the medical tent, instead going straight to the Jaguars locker room.
The Jaguars have listed Lawrence as questionable to return to Sunday’s game. Lawrence was 11 of 15 for 80 yards along with two rushing yards before suffering the injury. The Jaguars and Bills were tied 6-6 when Lawrence left the game.
CJ Beathard takes over at quarterback after the Lawrence injury
Following the injury to Lawrence, CJ Beathard took over at quarterback for the Jaguars. Lawrence’s rookie season has had its highs and lows, as the team is still developing while Lawrence develops himself as a rookie.

Entering Sunday’s game, Lawrence has completed 59.6 percent of his pass attempts for 1,703 yards, eight touchdowns, and nine interceptions. He also has 132 rushing yards and two scores on the ground on 29 rushing attempts.
The injury to Lawrence luckily does not appear to be too serious. Shortly after he went to the locker room, Lawrence returned to the Jaguars sideline. He has since been moving around and throwing with his helmet on. Beathard completed both of his pass attempts for 33 yards before Lawrence came back to the sidelines. Shortly after Lawrence was back on the sideline, he re-entered the game.
The Jaguars enter the weekend with a 1-6 overall record, sitting at the bottom of the AFC South. It appears as if both Lawrence and the Jaguars have avoided any sort of major injury as the midway point of his rookie season nears.
