Jalen Hurts jersey sales skyrocket
Jalen Hurts entered the season with a chip on his shoulder. While it’s still early, the Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback showed that all of the behind-the-scenes offseason work translated to success on the field.
Eagles fans can be a tough bunch, but the numbers don’t lie.
According to Fanatics, the former Alabama and Oklahoma quarterback had the second-highest selling jersey in the NFL since Sunday. Only former Alabama teammate and rookie quarterback Mac Jones of the Patriots was higher. Hurts’ 500% sales increase from Saturday to Sunday was the largest of any player in the league.
The Philadelphia Inquirer noted that yet another former Alabama Crimson Tide star, and Hurts’ current teammate DeVonta Smith had the top-selling jersey of all rookie non-quarterbacks since Sunday. This is notable, considering every skill-position rookie drafted in the top 15 scored a touchdown except Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts.
Nick Saban continues to send Alabama players to the NFL and the domination at the next level is carrying over to new fans throughout the country.
Jalen Hurts posted an impressive line in the Eagles win
Against the Falcons, Hurts completed 27 of his 35 passes for 264 yards and three touchdowns. He also had 62 yards on seven rushing attempts. Hurts ended Philadelphia’s first offensive possession with an 18-yard touchdown pass to Devonta Smith in the corner of the endzone, the first catch of Smith’s career.

The first-year starting quarterback said after the game that he went out on the field and did what he was coached to do. Hurts’ all-around performance was impressive, and the Eagles could be a true threat in the NFC East if his early success continues.
“It’s me going out there and doing what I’m coached to do,” Jalen Hurts said. “We prepare, we hit it every day. I always talk about executing. I want to execute at a high level. Running the ball, throwing the ball, alignment things, situation things, I just want to execute at a high level.”
The Eagles had 434 total yards and averaged 6.5 yards per play with no turnovers in the season opening victory.
The former Alabama stars will have a tough test against the 49ers this weekend, but the Philly faithful will be rocking their jerseys and Crimson Tide connection continues.
