4-star WR Jasen Lopez commits to Florida State over Miami, NC State

After three official visits, four-star Chaminade-Madonna (Fla.) wide receiver Jasen Lopez knows where he wants to play his college football.
On Thursday, Lopez spurned the local Hurricanes and committed to rival Florida State, giving Mike Norvell and Co. a huge victory on the recruiting trail. Miami had a lot of buzz coming out of his official visit there last weekend, but ultimately he plans to don the Garnet and Gold.
“I just have to find where I fit. The coaches, the people, the team – there are a lot of things I am looking for,” he told On3’s Chad Simmons this spring.
He found that as he joins an FSU class that has been scorching-hot in recent weeks, adding 11 commitments since June 1. The ‘Noles have skyrocketed from outside the top-25 to No. 11 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings coming into the day.
Lopez skyrocketing up the rankings
A transfer from True North Classical Academy, Lopez has seen a similarly meteoric stock rise in his recruitment. He entered his first year at Chaminade-Madonna with 15 offers to his name. By the time the Lions’ season was over, he had hauled in 87 receptions for 1,300 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns. The offers came flying in as well, with Florida State, Ohio State, Ole Miss, UCLA, UNLV all getting involved.

The 6-foot, 170-pounder is the No. 247 overall prospect and No. 41 WR in the 2026 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
On3 is a bit higher on him than other services though, tabbing him as the nations’ No. 207 recruit and No. 31 wideout.
Lopez is also a star on the hardwood, and plans to play for Florida State’s basketball team as well once he gets to campus. In his lone year so far for the Lions’ hoops program, he averaged 25.0 points, 6.4 rebounds, 4.1 steals and 2.2 assists while shooting 45% from the field.
