Jayden Daniels was not happy after the Washington Commanders lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship game. While speaking to the reporters, Daniels expressed his frustration about not playing in the Super Bowl.

“Obviously, man, this sucks,” Daniels said. “This s*** sucks. Excuse my language, but I couldn’t be prouder of the guys in the locker room. Year one, everybody not really knowing each other — rookies, doing a tremendous job bringing us in and helping us out. We all just meshed. We got to this point, but at the end of the day, we lost and it sucks. We’ll move on from this.”

Daniels threw for 255 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the 55-23 loss to the Eagles. He also led all Commanders players with 48 rushing yards and one score. Ultimately, the turnovers hurt Washington as the team committed four of them, while the Eagles had zero.

Despite falling short of reaching the Super Bowl, the 2024 season was a huge success for Jayden Daniels. During the regular season, the former LSU Tigers star threw for 3,568 yards and 25 touchdowns while also rushing for 891 yards and six TDs. Daniels is favored to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

Jayden Daniels compared to Andrew Luck

“I was telling everyone that would listen how good he would be,” Commanders tight end Zach Ertz said about Daniels, per ESPN. “Just something got me really excited. I knew there would be some growing pains, but his ability to work and his humility to get better is what sets him apart.”

Ertz went on to say he compared Daniels to former NFL QB Andrew Luck. “Andrew had a gravitational pull. Guys just wanted to be around him,” Ertz said. “He just wanted to be one of the guys and Jayden is very similar. Guys just want to be around him because he doesn’t view himself as anyone other than one of the guys.

“His approach to the game has really been different compared to a lot of people I’ve been around. A lot of times when you’re young there’s a lot of trial and error and oftentimes, you’re reactionary in terms of how your process is: ‘After I fail a couple times maybe I’ll do X, Y and Z more.’ Whereas Jayden from the moment he first got here he was the first one in the building studying as much as possible.”
