Jerry Jones claims Dallas Cowboys subject of extortion attempt
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones spoke about his recent legal issues regarding a paternity claim, stating that it was part of an extortion attempt. Jones was recently sued in a paternity case involving a 25-year-old woman, Alexandra Davis, who alleges that she is his daughter. Jones requested a judge dismiss his case because she is involved in “multiple monetary extortion attempts” against him and the Dallas Cowboys both.
Jerry Jones calls lawsuit and cheerleader scandal “extortion”
As Jones and his legal team seek to have his paternity suit dismissed, he has now stated before the court that he believes Davis is connected with the recent cheerleader voyeurism complaint against the Cowboys organization. Although no legal punishments were found against the Cowboys in the voyeurism scandal, the Cowboys paid out a settlement of $2.4 million as a result.
The complicated connections began with Jones’ response to the paternity lawsuit. Jones alleges that he was delivered the lawsuit paperwork before it was officially filed and given an opportunity to settle the claim without it going before the court system. Jones’ allegations did not include the amount of money discussed, but he claims the incident is one of several reasons why the case should be dismissed before trial.
From there, a letter sent from Jones’ attorneys immediately after the paternity lawsuit was filed indicates that they are countering the suit with a claim of conspiracy. The letter, sent on Mar. 10, was delivered to Shy Anderson — the husband of Jones’ daughter Charlotte Jones Anderson who is in a contentious divorce battle that has been ongoing. The letter, as detailed by ESPN, advised Anderson to preserve documents “to determine whether a conspiracy exists among yourself and others including, without limitation, certain of your lawyers.”

Essentially, the letter is a legal request to set the stage for Jones’ lawyers to put forth evidence that connects Davis’ paternity suit with the Cowboys’ cheerleader scandal. The letter also requested “all communications with any person regarding an incident with certain Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders which was the subject of an article by ESPN.”
The next stage in the complicated matter will be on Thursday, when the court rules on whether or not to make the content of the lawsuit publicly available. Jones is alleged to have paid $375,000 to Davis’ mother in order to keep her paternity a secret. Jones has reportedly denied requests to prove paternity outside of the lawsuit, and the current response from his legal team seems to indicate that he is not willing to entertain any of their requests.
