Jerry Jones provides major update on Dak Prescott's return, timeline
The Dallas Cowboys haven’t skipped a beat since Dak Prescott went down in their opener. Cooper Rush has come in and led the team to wins over the reigning AFC champion Cincinnati Bengals and a division rival New York Giants last night. However, the endgame is to get Prescott back and under center for America’s Team as soon as possible.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones joined 105.3 The Fan after his team’s win on Monday Night Football and talked about Prescott’s timeline. He said his recovery is ahead of schedule and this week will be about determining just how far along he is.

“I think his progress is nothing short of amazing,” Jones said. “It’s a question of whether or not he’ll be able to grip and throw the ball, and we don’t know that.”
Prescott left the Cowboys’ opening loss to Tampa Bay with a thumb injury that some feared would keep him out for a significant amount of time. However, he has made significant progress and it appears he could be available any week now.
While there have been new storylines about a QB controversy between him and Rush, Dallas isn’t paying Prescott $160 million to sit on the sideline when healthy. It’s just a matter of when now with Dallas’ franchise quarterback well on his way back.
Cooper Rush asked about QB controversy with Dak Prescott
The notion of a “quarterback controversy” in Dallas got Cowboys fans talking after Jerry Jones’ comments. But as Cooper Rush won his second straight start on Monday night, the noise appears to be getting louder as Dak Prescott works his way back.
Rush had quite an answer about the situation after Dallas’ win over the New York Giants.
“Well, I keep winning,” Rush told ESPN’s Lisa Salters. “As long as I’m in there, let’s just keep winning, playing smart, trusting each other, both sides of the ball and we’ll be alright.”
Since Prescott’s Week 1 injury, Rush has started the Cowboys’ last two games — victories over the Cincinnati Bengals and the Giants, both in primetime. He has thrown for 450 yards and two touchdowns in both starts, and he’ll more than likely have a chance to build on those numbers Sunday when Dallas takes on the Washington Commanders.
