Jerry Jones shares Dallas Cowboys trade deadline plans: 'I don't expect a trade'

With the NFL trade deadline coming within the next two weeks, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones shared the team’s plans to make any moves. According to the Dallas owner, they are not looking to make any moves at the deadline and are happy with the team’s current makeup — with one major caveat apparently.

Jones said the only way he sees Dallas making any moves before the Nov. 1 deadline is if a player like Hall of Famer Deion Sanders is on the table.

“I don’t see that,” said Jerry Jones about the idea of Dallas making a trade before the deadline. “I don’t expect a trade.”

Jones then went on to add the one reason that he would entertain trade offers this year — if someone was offering to deal an elite talent.

“He said if they could get a player of the magnitude of Deion Sanders, he’d be all in,” explained The Athletic‘s Jon Machota.

It’s hard to argue with Jones’ reluctance to pull the trigger on a trade this season as Dallas appears to be one of the most complete rosters in the NFL through October. Dallas has an incredibly stout defense and solid special teams play, along with an offense loaded with stars like Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott, CeeDee Lamb and Tony Pollard.

The weakest point of the roster seems to be the depth at both wide receiver and in their secondary, but unless a player that would be worth trading for by every team in the league shows up on the trading block — Dallas appears content to ride this roster to a potential playoff berth.

Unfortunately, the Cowboys’ impressive 5-2 record this season despite early injury setbacks may not be good enough to earn an NFC East title. With Philadelphia on a bye week and the New York Giants winning again on Sunday, Dallas is sitting at third place in the division with the fourth-best record in the conference.
