Jerry Jones doesn’t care about no dang quarterback controversy.

The bag of worms was spilled open when Cooper Rush played well enough to secure a victory for the Cowboys over the Cincinnati Bengals, and now Dallas fans everywhere are filled with delusions of grandeur, like Rush hoisting the Lombardi Trophy. However, Jones wouldn’t mind a possible tough decision to make at his signal caller position when Dak Prescott is healthy enough to return.

Dallas is traveling by plane to East Rutherford to take on the New York Giants in Week 3, but Jones said he would get there Forest Gump style if it meant Rush played so well a quarterback controversy was on the horizon.

“Jerry Jones wouldn’t mind a QB controversy between Dak Prescott and Cooper Rush,” tweeted Jon Machota of The Athletic. “He said he’d walk to New York if it meant Rush played so well going forward that the Cowboys had a tough decision to make.”

Dak Prescott became the Cowboys starting quarterback due to an injury to Tony Romo, and many other quarterbacks around the league got their start the same way. Heck, Justin Herbert started his career after Tyrod Taylor almost had his career ended inadvertently by a team doctor.

The NFL is a what have you done for me lately business, and if Rush is playing too well to bench, Cowboys faithful — and Jones — won’t mind seeing Prescott cheerlead for a little bit longer.

Continuing, Jones reaffirmed that belief, stating that it’s certainly possible for Prescott to see his starting gig evaporate from his hands in favor of Rush.

“Of course we want Dak to be here next week. … But Dak and I want Rush to lead the team to a victory here and get another win, and that’s the only way to look at it. Looking back when Dak was playing instead of Tony, it was game by game. .. It was actually play by play, almost series by series,” stated Jones, via Machota. “So do I think that it’s possible for Rush to come in here and play at a level the way Prescott did when he took over for Romo? Yes I do. Yes I do. I certainly think that’s possible.”

While it may seem impossible that Cooper Rush could replace Dak Prescott long-term as the Cowboys quarterback, Jerry Jones doesn’t see it that way. Heck, it seemed impossible when Prescott replaced Tony Romo — stranger things have happened.

“It was impossible, ostensibly, that Prescott could play that well and keep Romo out,” added the Cowboys owner.
