Hall of Fame head coach Jimmy Johnson has never been one to pull punches and will give you the raw truth when it comes to all things football-related. So, it did not surprise too many when Johnson did not hold back speaking about the Cowboys, while a guest on The Herd.
Johnson and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones are Co-creators of one of the most dynastic eras in Cowboys history. However, Johnson and Jones did not see eye to eye with one another and ended their partnership abruptly in 1993. Since then, Jones has taken a liking towards coaches who bend to his will, with the exception of the Bill Parcells era in Dallas. And that is exactly what Johnson took aim at when asked about current Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy and Jones.
“Well yeah, Jerry, he doesn’t ever want to admit that he’s wrong you know. And so he’s gonna hang with whoever Jason Garrett or whoever and try to make it work. I think he really values the talent on that team such that he feels like McCarthy can be successful and he can improve; especially with Dan Quinn and with Kellen Moore with the assistance that he’s got. So that’s a big thing,” said Johnson.
Cowboys hiring another coach
The Cowboys are adding to their strong coaching staff. According to Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network, Dallas is adding former Texans wide receivers coach Robert Prince to their staff.

“Cowboys are expected to hire former Texans receivers coach Robert Prince, according to a league source,” tweeted Wilson. “Previously, with the Detroit Lions. Should provide strong coaching voice for talented receiving corps.”
Last season, Prince spent the year with the Texans as their wide receivers coach. Prior, he spent an extended period of time with the Lions, holding the positions of wide receivers coach and acting head coach over 2014-2020 in Detroit.
Now, Prince will get the opportunity to coach one of the best receiving corps in the entire NFL. With stars like Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb on the roster, Dallas is readying for another fantastic offensive season in 2022.
