WATCH: Julius Randle's son has hilarious reaction to three-point shooting contest loss

New York Knicks star Julius Randle had a less-than-stellar performance in the NBA Starry 3-Point Contest and his son’s reaction stole the show. Randle came out flat during his turn around the arc and finished with second-last place score of points. The cameras caught the reaction of his son in the crowd live as he began to cry as his dad lost the competition — with plenty of fans joking that his shooting brought his son to tears.

The moment was the perfect mixture of wholesome and hilarious as the NBA celebrates the best of the best this weekend, and a great example of the family atmosphere of the yearly event.

Julius Randle struggles during three-point shootout

The sight of his son learning that his dad wasn’t unbeatable on the court was a memorable one, as there’s likely no bigger fan of Randle than him. Luckily for Randle though, his time in last place didn’t last any longer than his turn shooting because his 13 points dominated Kevin Huerter’s 8-point showing next.

Joining them in the “eliminated in the first round” category were fellow stars Lauri Markkanen, Jayson Tatum and Tyler Herro. The final round of the three-point shootout came down to Damian Lillard, Buddy Hield and Tyrese Haliburton — with Damian Lillard taking the entire competition with a final round score of 26.

Haliburton came in third officially with his final round performance, but he was the only player to break the 30-point mark during the competition. By scoring more than 30 points in one of the rounds, he earned $300,000 in donation to charity from the presenting sponsor of the competition — Starry.
