2022 NBA Draft: Cleveland Cavaliers select Ochai Agbaji, Kansas guard
Kansas Jayhawks guard Ochai Agbaji is off the board in the 2022 NBA Draft. With the No. 14 pick of the first round, Agbaji was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
When Agbaji first began getting significant minutes for head coach Bill Self, he was thrown into the fire due to injuries for Kansas. The move ended up paying off and Agbaji will go down as one of the program’s all-time great players.
Abaji has a lengthy list of personal awards from the past season, including NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player and consensus first-team All-American. However, the national championship win will be his favorite of the bunch, finally breaking through and winning one. During the tournament run, Agbaji averaged 13.7 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.
Within the program, Agbaji was named one of three players to win the Danny Manning “Mr. Jayhawk” Award. He shared it alongside Mitch Lightfoot and David McCormack after the trio played an intricate part in the Jayhawks lifting another banner inside Phog Allen Fieldhouse.

Scouting report on Ochai Agbaji
In his latest mock draft for ESPN, NBA Draft expert Jonathan Givony called Agbaji “one of the best shooters” in the entire draft. During his senior season, the Kansas guard shot 47.5% from the floor and 40.7% from behind the arc.
However, there is much more to Agbaji’s game than scoring. His defensive ability has the Kansas guard “ready to contribute immediately” in the NBA. Cleveland will be getting one of the top talents in the entire draft.
“Agbaji, one of the best shooters in the draft with a 6-10 wingspan and chiseled frame, projects as a plug-and-play, 3-and-D prospect who should be ready to contribute immediately after winning All-America honors and coming off a national championship in which he won the Final Four’s Most Outstanding Player for Kansas,” Givony said.
