Kayvon Thibodeaux on building legacy, where he wants to find success
The Giants have had their fair-share of tremendous pass rushers. Lawrence Taylor, Michael Strahan, Justin Tuck and Osi Umenyiora — just to name a few. Now, Kayvon Thibodeaux wants to cultivate his own legacy in New York.
During his introductory press conference with the Giants, the former Oregon star spoke about Strahan’s on-field and off-field career, where he wants to find success, and how he’ll do it like no other before him.
“They’re both ridiculous, but for me, I feel like I kind of want to pave my own way,” Thibodeaux responded, when asked if he would love to follow in Strahan’s dual-career footsteps.. “You know, he’s done the great thing he’s done because of the work he’s put in. So, I got to go put in the work myself. Kind of, you know, build that legacy for myself.”
As you can see, Thibodeaux is supremely motivated to become his own animal. Still, Strahan will be there for him — helping him get adjusted to the bright lights of New York.
“Just to keep the main thing the main thing and that’s kind of been the focus of all that,” Thibodeaux stated, explaining the advice Strahan has given him. “Football is gonna be that avenue; football gonna be that terminal for everything you want to do after. So as long as you keep the main thing the main thing, and he also shed light to the idea that people thought the same thing about him. Like man you must have had this planned.

“But for him, he shared with me that it took him being great to really cultivate you know everything he did off the field and he kind of just fell into place.”
During his time at Oregon, Thibodeaux finished seventh in program history with 19 sacks. Seven came during his final season while playing in 11 games. He was a disruptor elsewhere in the backfield as well, totaling 123 tackles, 35.5 tackles for a loss, and three forced fumbles. One of the best of the past three years, Thibodeaux is now an expected to have tremendous success with the Giants.
The Giants are used to pass rushers with huge, infectious personalities. If everything goes according to plan, Kayvon Thibodeaux is up next for some wild success.
