Kyle Pitts suffers knee injury in win over Bears
It’s been a rough season for Atlanta Falcons superstar tight end Kyle Pitts. A bad season just got dramatically worse this Sunday afternoon against the Chicago Bears, when he suffered what appeared to be a gruesome-looking knee injury in the Falcons 27-24 win. He was hit low by a Bears defender in the third quarter following an 18-yard catch.
Check out the gruesome-looking hit below. It did not look good at all.
He was seen walking to the locker room on his own power after the hit. According to The Score’s Jordan Schultz, early indications are that Pitts did not tear any ligaments in the knee. The star tight end will have an MRI on the knee on Monday morning to confirm the news, but the Falcons are very optimistic about his prognosis.
He’s had a disappointing season this year, hauling in only 25 catches for 313 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Falcons’ head coach Arthur Smith has been criticized heavily this season for his inability to get his star tight the football more often. Marcus Mariota has not helped things either.

Pitts has the potential to be one of the best tight ends in the league and he proved that during his rookie season last year. The injury looked very serious. Let’s hope he avoided major injury because he’s one of the games brightest young stars and he’s oozing with a jaw-dropping amount of talent and athleticism.

As a rookie last year, Pitts suited up in all 17 games for the Falcons. He was targeted 110 times in the Atlanta offense, hauling in 68 receptions for 1,026 yards and one touchdown, averaging 15.1 yards per catch. He became the first rookie tight end to haul in over 1,000 receiving yards since Mike Ditka did it in 1961.
