One of the biggest blockbuster trades of the 2022 NFL Draft thus far happened in the first round, when the Baltimore Ravens dealt their star receiver, Hollywood Brown, to the Arizona Cardinals. The franchise dealt their No. 100 overall selection (third round choice) and Brown to the Cardinals for the No. 23 overall selection in the first round. It’s been well known the past few years that Lamar Jackson and Brown were very close. After all, Jackson hand-picked Hollywood to join him in Baltimore. So, it shouldn’t be surprising to hear that Jackson was very upset about the deal and let that be known with a series of tweets.

Here is one of them.

Then there was Jackson’s immediate reaction to his longtime friend being traded–which he simply tweeted “wtf”.

There were reports that Hollywood Brown wanted to be traded and spoke with Jackson before he was traded, so maybe he shouldn’t have acted like he was so shocked. The tandem were longtime friends, so it’s understandable that the breakup would not be pleasant. Jackson and Brown played in the same Pop Warner youth football league together in South Florida. They also would often arrive at Ravens’ games together and leave the games together.

However, dealing with change is part of being a professional athlete, especially at the NFL level. The electrifying quarterback has a right to be upset, but at the same time as a player, there are many things that will always be out of his hands and control.

Jackson and Brown had their best season together in 2021-2022

Brown just had his best season yet with the Baltimore Ravens. In the 2021-2022 season, he pulled in 91 catches for 1,008 receiving yards and six touchdown catches. Coming out of high school, Brown was rated as a four-star prospect, according to multiple recruiting services.

The Cardinals’ wide receiver corps will now feature the likes of Hollywood with De’Andre HopkinsRondale Moore, and A.J. Green at the top of their depth chart. Now, Jackson will have to find another favorite receiver to throw the football to in Baltimore outside of tight end Mark Andrews.
