The Las Vegas Raiders have released veteran and former Alabama running back Kenyan Drake after one season with the organization, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Drake appeared in 12 games in 2021, but only managed 254 yards on the ground following a near 1,000-yard rushing season with the Arizona Cardinals the year prior.

Drake was given $5.5 million from the Raiders in the spring for his contract, but is still owed $2.5 million in guaranteed cash this season – not including what the team that inevitably picks him up pays him.

According to Pelissero’s colleague Mike Garafolo, that was a deal negotiated with the “old regime” and not with new head coach Josh McDaniels and GM Dave Ziegler, which played a major role in Drake’s ultimate release.

Coming out of high school, White was the top running back in the 2017 recruiting class, according to On3’s recruiting database. White was named to the USA Today 2017 All-USA First Team offense, NCPreps Player of the Year, and N.C. All-State First Team after rushing for 2,086 yards and 34 touchdowns in 11 games his senior season. He was ranked 11 in his class and received offers from some of the top programs in college football before ultimately committing to the Bulldogs.

The five-foot-11 Laurinburg, NC, native played three years at Georgia. White played in 38 games with 23 starts during his time with the Bulldogs. He finished his career with a total of 382 carries for 2,043 rushing yards, averaging 5.3 per carry, and 25 rushing touchdowns. Despite not being a consistent feature running back at Georgia, his 2,043 rushing yards rank 15th on the program’s career list. Las Vegas selected White in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft with the 122nd overall pick.
