LOOK: Washington Football Team answers Dallas Cowboys' bench troll in kind
The Washington Football Team is clapping back at the Dallas Cowboys with a copycat move this week. The WFT started a partnership with Dragon Seats to fly their benches to NFC East road games after Dallas did the same two weeks ago.
The Cowboys took the win but Ron Rivera and Washington have a chance at redemption on Sunday. Dallas is 10-4, sitting in first in the NFC East, while WFT is 6-7 on the year.
Typically, road teams in the NFL just use the sideline benches that the home team provides. However, the Cowboys flew in their own sideline benches, opting to use those, with their logo on it, rather than Washington’s.
According to Mitchell Tischler of NBC Sports Washington, it was the first time that an opposing team has brought their own sideline benches at FedEx field. Apparently, the WFT liked the idea.
The Cowboys did reportedly have a decent reason at least for bringing in their own benches. It doesn’t seem like Washington’s doing it for any reason other than retaliation.

“Here’s the deal on the Cowboys’ benches today: Cowboys got word from Seattle that the hotseat benches provided for them at FedEx Field kept going out during the game,” Todd Archer tweeted before the first game between the rivals. “Cowboys partnered with company in Cleveland that shipped them to FedEx Field so wouldn’t be an issue today.”
Dallas and WFT kick off at 8:20 p.m. ET on Sunday after Christmas.
Cowboys limiting practice because of COVID-19
The Dallas Cowboys have made a decision regarding their practice schedule this week as the NFL is dealing with the largest outbreak of COVID-19 this season. With 47 players being added to NFL COVID-19 lists on Monday, the team made the decision to hold all team meetings virtually this week.
“All Cowboys meetings will be virtual this week,” stated The Athletic’s Jon Machota. “The players will only be at The Star for practice and weight room availability, which will be limited.”
A major outbreak affected Dallas at the end of November. So far, the team has had 21 players on the COVID-19 list this season. They even had head coach Mike McCarthy and defensive coordinator Dan Quinn test positive earlier in the season as well.
