The Los Angeles Rams stunned the NFL world by signing Odell Beckham Jr. on Thursday. But will he play on Monday Night Football this week?

Rams coach Sean McVay talked about that in a press conference Friday afternoon. It sounds like the coach is in no rush to get Beckham onto the field, but isn’t ruling him out yet.

“As far as his status … on Monday night, we’ll see,” McVay told reporters. “We’re going to take it a day at a time, but if we feel like he can help us go compete against the 49ers, then we’ll have him ready to go. Those will be conversations that’ll take [place] between myself and Odell and the rest of the people that are involved.”

You can’t blame McVay for not rushing Beckham into the lineup. He’s joining a wide receiver room that includes Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods, who have combined to help the Rams to the third-best passing offense in the league. Kupp leads the NFL in receiving yards with 1,019 and Woods is No. 23 with 556.

Those are two solid targets for Matthew Stafford, which is why Los Angeles would be probably be alright if Beckham doesn’t jump in head-first yet.

Why Odell Beckham Jr. chose Los Angeles over the Packers

The Beckham sweepstakes came down to the Rams and the Green Bay Packers. It was a tough decision — but one contract was substantially more money than the other, according to a report.

Green Bay apparently only offered the former Cleveland Browns star the veteran minimum, according to NFL reporter Jordan Schultz. The Rams, meanwhile, offered him a contract worth $4.25 million after incentives, Schultz reported.

“It’s a win-win and a monster move for an already stacked offense,” Schultz tweeted Friday afternoon.

Schultz previously reported that when Beckham was deciding between Los Angeles and Green Bay, he never got the impression the Packers were “all-in.” Green Bay was reported to be Beckham’s No. 1 choice.

Now officially signed with the Rams, he’ll join an ultra-talented wide receiver room. He’ll play alongside Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods, adding yet another weapon for quarterback Matthew Stafford. As if the Rams’ passing game wasn’t potent enough — it ranks third in the NFL with 296.3 yards per game — it just got even better.

Fans will get their first look at Beckham in a Rams uniform on Monday Night Football this week when Los Angeles takes on the San Francisco 49ers.
