The Los Angeles Rams’ first Super Bowl win since 1999 has drawn plenty of reactions. One of them came from Steven Jackson, who starred for the then-St. Louis Rams from 2004-12.

Jackson took to Twitter to pen a lengthy message for Rams fans in the wake of the big 23-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI. Rams fans waited more than two decades to win the big game, and Jackson was more than thrilled his former team could bring home the Lombardi Trophy.

“I’m a root worker and I’ve known that for a very long time,” Jackson wrote. “What I mean by that is we don’t always get to see our seeds grow. Painful yet true. Now, I sit at a place with a special view, between the old and the new. When the Rams won in ’99 the grapes on the vine grew before my time. A new vintage has been discovered. The ’21 Rams have emerged. The League’s best.

“The seeds I planted, a distant memory, a hope for a legacy. Leaving myself and not feeling myself and yet — the young team and I share a certain thing. From Stafford’s 12 years of letdown to AD’s sense of urgency and ability to play like he’s being judged on every down, these are the Rams I wanted to be. That was the Ram I tried to be. These are the feelings that live deep down where once upon a time, a dream took root — now a reality that is not mine, but still, a gift given by those who came after me. Champions.”

Matthew Stafford reacts to the Rams’ Super Bowl win

After his team’s incredible Super Bowl win over the Bengals, Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford spoke on what made the group different this season. The Rams beat the Bengals 23-20 in a closely contested game that ended with a game-winning touchdown from Stafford to Cooper Kupp.

“I’m so proud of this team,” said Stafford after the win. “There’s so many guys on our team that deserve this. So many great players, guys that have just given their heart and soul to this team. Guys that are either playing in this game or not because of injury — I’m just so proud of this group. This is the story of our season. It’s up and down, it’s tough. We’re a freaking tough team — showed up late and got it done. I’m excited.”

Stafford was then asked a follow-up question about his star receiver and Super Bowl MVP, Cooper Kupp. Kupp was the recipient of four passes for 39 yards and the game-winning touchdown, as well as a fourth-down rush for seven yards that kept their final drive alive.
