LOOK: Mac Jones works out with new receivers heading into 2022 season
Former Alabama star Mac Jones has been busy training hard with his new receiver group for the Patriots in the 2022 offseason. On Friday, he was seen throwing with New England wideouts Kristian Wilkerson and Lil’Jordan Humphrey. Humphrey is the new addition to the group and signed with the Patriots following minicamp. Jones has been seen training with a wide variety of the New England receivers this offseason.

Robert Griffin III is a big believer in Jones. The No. 15 overall pick out of Alabama in the 2021 NFL Draft, he finished this past season as the leader among rookie quarterbacks with 3,801 yards passing and 22 touchdowns.
Griffin believes his 2022 season could be even better. The former Baylor star and Heisman winner tweeted his endorsement of Jones, claiming he could be the first quarterback of the 2021 class to deliver a Super Bowl.
“Mac Jones is MOST LIKELY to win a ring FIRST of the rookie QBs who played serious time last year,” Griffin wrote. “Bill Belichick and the @Patriots are defensive masterminds, out coach other teams and Mac Attack will stretch the field more after last year has his confidence on ROLL TIDE LEVELS.”
Last season, Jones was named to the Pro Bowl. He was the only rookie quarterback to lead his team to a playoff appearance, as the Patriots finished 10-7 before losing to the Bills in the Wild Card round.

Other notable quarterbacks from the 2021 class include Trevor Lawrence (Jacksonville), Zach Wilson (New York Jets), Justin Fields (Chicago) and Trey Lance (San Francisco). Of these quarterbacks, only Lance finds himself on a team in better position to make a postseason run than the Patriots. However, the 49ers still have Jimmy Garoppolo at quarterback and Lance isn’t even guaranteed to start in 2022.
Additionally, Jones brings championship experience from his time with the Crimson Tide. In his lone season as the full-time starter in 2020, he led Alabama to a national championship while throwing for 4,500 yards and 41 touchdowns to just five interceptions.
Coincidentally, Tom Brady won his first Super Bowl with the Patriots during just his second NFL season in 2001. Jones has often drawn comparisons to Brady, who spent 20 years in New England from 2000-19. The second-year signal-caller will look to prove Robert Griffin III right when the Patriots open up the season on Sept. 11 against the Miami Dolphins.
