Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has an injury to his right index finger, according to Pro Football Talk. He injured the finger shortly before halftime, according to reports.

Stafford was attended to by the athletic trainer of the Rams, then threw passes on the sideline before going back out on the field for a kneel down before halftime.

So far against the Seahawks, Stafford has made some highly questionable throws, including an interception that looked like it was intended for Seahawks safety Quandre Diggs.

So far in this season, Stafford has thrown for over 1,200 passing yards, while tossing in 11 passing touchdowns and two interceptions.

He threw a nice touchdown pass to tight end Tyler Higbee, so it doesn’t look like the injury is affecting him too much.

The Rams are hoping that the talented quarterback could be the missing piece to the puzzle to help them make a Super Bowl run this season.

His best game of this year thus far came against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which he torched for 343 passing yards and four touchdown passes, while throwing no interceptions. The Rams defeated the Bucs 34-24 and handed them their first loss of the season.

Stafford’s favorite target of the 2021 season so far has been without a doubt, Cooper Kupp. He leads the team in receiving by a wide margin. Kupp has hauled in 30 catches for 431 yards and five touchdowns so far.

The speedy wideout leads the team in targets with 46 targets. No other player on the Rams has more than 25 currently (Robert Woods).

Van Jefferson has been a pleasant surprise this year for Rams fans, hauling in over 200 receiving yards and two touchdowns thus far. The second-year wideout out of Florida made an amazing grab against the Chicago Bears earlier in the year.

Matthew Stafford prospect profile

Stafford is one of the highest-ranked quarterback prospects to ever come through the recruiting cycle. The former five-star prospect was rated as one of the top quarterbacks in the country coming out of high school in the 2006 class. He played for Highland Park (Dallas) coming out of high school.

The Texas native threw for 7,731 passing yards while tossing in 51 touchdowns and 33 interceptions for his entire Georgia career. His best season at Georgia came in 2008 when he completed 235 of his 383 passing attempts for 3,459 yards while tossing in 25 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

Stafford’s 25 touchdown passes in 2008 broke the previous Georgia record of 24, set by D.J. Shockley (2005) and Eric Zeier (1993, 1994). His 3,459 yards passing in 2008 were the second-most in Georgia football history, surpassed only by Zeier’s 3,525 yards in 1993.

In his previous 12 years in the NFL with the Detroit Lions, Stafford has thrown for over 45,000 yards and 282 touchdown passes, while tossing in 144 interceptions.
