Dallas Cowboys stars Micah Parsons and Dak Prescott showed their competitive fire on Tuesday night while competing in the team’s annual Reliant Energy Home Run Derby. According to the second-year defensive star out of Penn State, the bats were not to his liking and triggered a quick shopping spree for better equipment.

Micah Parsons won his round of the Home Run Derby with a little help from Dick’s Sporting Goods. After going through a practice session earlier in the day, he made a trip to the store and bought a $500 bat to give him a leg up on the competition.

“I let them know before we got out here,” said Parsons, via Jon Machota. “I went through BP and I saw the bats, and I was like, ‘I can’t use these bats.’ I went to Dick’s and bought a $500 bat before I came out here. I sweat to God. That’s my bat, I went and bought a $500 bat just so I could hit home runs today. … I said give me the most powerful bat you’ve got, so that’s just the competitive nature in me.”

Dak Prescott came out on the losing end, calling the bat a “cheat code” for Parsons. The defensive star told reporters he definitely made a good investment.

“I got my money’s worth,” said Parsons. “That’s how competitive I am, I want to do everything to win. And because it’s a cause, so my $500 paid off. I think we won $7,000 in the first round so extremely excited about it.

“I’m going to let everybody use it. Shoot, we could probably donate the bat after.”
