Micah Parsons sends follow-up on bullied high schooler

Micah Parsons might have just made his biggest stop of the season.

Parsons has revealed that he’s made contact with the boy from Arvin High School in California who was bullied into having his hair cut by classmates. The kid, who is special needs, has since gathered thousands of messages of well wishes from across the world, but none have seemed more adamant about the situation than Parsons.

“Thank you everyone for the help! I’ve made contact!! I wish everyone understand love is spread in multiple ways! Don’t wait until we see pain and suffering! Let’s continue to make strides in protecting our youth,” Parsons tweeted Saturday night.

Parsons followed up twice on social media asking for help in contacting him, and it seems to have finally paid off. While he didn’t specify how he helped, Parsons surely took care of the boy and his family – something more rewarding that anything that could happen on a football field.

Parsons wasn’t the only sports star to try and reach out to the boy. Boston Celtics guard and reigning Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart replied to Parsons’ initial tweet offering his own help in the search for the boy.

“I’ll jump in Micah! Does anyone have Javier’s contact info? Don’t post his personal info here but email [email protected] on how to get in touch w him or his family and we’ll get the celtics and puma to send a little something his way. We got his back,” Smart wrote.

Social media continued to drive support for the boy, and a GoFundMe was started to help him get a new haircut, buy new clothes and anything else. The outpouring of support for the situation has raised over $30,000 with over 1,000 patrons providing donations.

Seeing so many people come together to help someone in need is what makes this world special. Having thousands of people stand up for you when, at one time, no one would restores a bit of faith in humanity.
