Dak Prescott discusses chemistry with Michael Gallup
Michael Gallup is back, and Dak Prescott is thrilled to have another proven weapon on the field as the Dallas Cowboys attempt to make a run in the NFL postseason.
The speedy downfield threat was taken off injured reserve and will be suiting up Sunday vs. the Atlanta Falcons.
Cowboys starting quarterback Dak Prescott has developed a special chemistry with Gallup and the Cowboys’ signal caller is excited about one of his top targets returning.
“That’s a guy I’ve always counted on,” Prescott said of Michael Gallup.
“Getting him for this week, I’m excited about it. He’s excited. He made some big plays out here in practice. I know he’s ready to go.”
Prescott has been impressive this season but is coming off one of the worst performances of his career. The Cowboys’ quarterback finished the 30-16 home loss to the Broncos with a quarterback rating of just 73.9.
Still, it’s safe to assume Prescott will get his rhythm back vs. a mediocre Falcons’ defense. And now, offensive coordinator Kellen Moore has a key weapon to change the way teams play defense.
Michael Gallup is a vertical deep threat this team has missed. Of his 13 career touchdowns, five have covered 30 or more yards. Without Gallup, CeeDee Lamb and Amari Cooper became more involved in the vertical passing game along with Wilson, but now the two outside threats can focus on what they do best.
Gallup is thrilled to move forward and put the injury behind him.
“It was definitely very frustrating,” he said. “It comes with the game, injuries happen and for me fortunately it wasn’t anything to keep me out the whole season. I’m blessed about that but definitely mad that I did take that injury. But it’s something to overcome — that’s all it is.”

Michael Gallup taken off injured reserve
The Dallas Cowboys have battled injury concerns throughout the season, but have prevailed for the most part.
With the critical part of the season ahead, the Cowboys have activated wide receiver Michael Gallup from injured reserve.
Gallup, who hasn’t played since suffering a calf injury season opener against Tampa Bay on Sept. 9, was activated from injured reserve, the Cowboys announced Saturday. He will be available in Sunday’s game against the Falcons at AT&T Stadium.
The Dallas Cowboys selected Gallup in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft and he has thrived when healthy. Gallup has 162 catches for 2,493 yards and 13 touchdowns in his career.
As it stands, it’s clear the duo of Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb have cemented the top two wide receiver spots. With defenses constructing game plans to limit the production of the two, there should be plenty of opportunities for Michael Gallup to pick up where he left off and become a valuable target for Dak Prescott down the stretch.
