Mike McCarthy gives update on Ezekiel Elliot’s health status
MIke McCarthy recently took the podium to answer a wide array of questions surrounding the Cowboys and the soon-to-be third-year Dallas head coach was asked specifically if he believes running back Ezekiel Elliott is at full health.
“I would hope so, I was looking at the GPS yesterday of the workouts on Tuesday and 22 miles per hour is pretty damn good, so yeah, he looks great,” the Dallas Cowboys’ coach said.
That’s a pretty strong response from Mike McCarthy who is clearly alluding that Elliott recently reached top speeds in his workouts.
There was plenty of speculation about Elliott’s health last year as he shared carries with Tony Pollard and played through lingering injuries, but 22 MPH is beyond impressive, which points to a healthy Elliott in the offseason.
Mike McCarthy opens up about Kelvin Joseph’s legal situation, place with Cowboys
The legal process is still occurring with Kelvin Joseph regarding his possible involvement in a fatal shooting taking place in late March. The Dallas Cowboys’ second-year cornerback has been cleared of being the actual shooter but an investigation is still ongoing as offseason workouts begin.
Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy was the latest from within the organization to comment on the situation after the first day of rookie minicamp. He said the Cowboys wanted to make sure they had an internal in-depth conversation on what was the best course of action regarding Joseph. In the end, he thought supporting the cornerback was the best course of action.
“I understand the concern, and I just want you to know that when the situation occurred, we had a lot of internal conversation that was really in-depth,” McCarthy said. “Based off the information that we’ve been given, we felt it was important to support him.”

As for how the legal investigation would impact Joesph on the field, McCarthy would only comment on what the cornerback has done this offseason. Nothing about the future was mentioned by the head coach.
“He’s been here every day and he’s having a very productive offseason so far,” said Mike McCarthy.
Joseph was selected in the second round by the Cowboys in the 2021 NFL Draft, coming out of Kentucky. He began his career in his hometown of Baton Rouge with LSU but made the transfer from within the conference to play for the Wildcats.
During his first season in the NFL, Joeseph played in 10 games and started in two games. With the legal situation pending, he is expected to have a bigger role this season for the Cowboys.
