Mike McCarthy provides update on Kelvin Joseph's heath status during minicamp
With the Dallas Cowboy’s mandatory minicamp wrapping up, they’ll go their separate ways before returning next month for training camp. Head coach Mike McCarthy provided an update on his roster following the camp’s conclusion. During that update, he shared injury news regarding cornerback Kelvin Joseph.
McCarthey says Joseph suffered an injury to end spring training per The Athletic’s Jon Machota. The injury was implied as minor as McCarthy expects Joseph to be a full-go for training camp.
This is the latest news in the midst of a wild offseason for the former LSU and Kentucky corner. In April, police questioned Joseph about a fatal shooting in March. While Joseph has been cleared of being the shooter in the incident, the investigation is still ongoing.
Dallas selected Joseph with the 44th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He finished his rookie season with 16 tackles, a pair of deflections, and a fumble recovery in 10 games with the Cowboys.
Jerry Jones comments on Kelvin Joseph’s status, impact on cornerback position
Dallas Cowboys cornerback Kelvin Joseph is still going through the legal process regarding his possible involvement in a fatal shooting taking place in March. While he has been cleared of being the shooter in the incident, according to Tom Pelissero, the investigation is still ongoing.

Owner and general manager Jerry Jones commented on the situation for the first time on Tuesday, saying there is no update on the situation. He said Joseph has been active on the team, working toward getting ready for the 2022 season.
“It’s under investigation,” Jones said. “I don’t know any more than I’ve seen written. I have no information that impacts his status this time of year. He’s very active and involved in getting ready for the upcoming season.”
With the NFL Draft scheduled to kick off on Thursday, Jones said the investigation will not change how the Cowboys approach their draft board, especially at the cornerback position.
