Mike McCarthy sets bold challenge to Cowboys players following win
Mike McCarthy has the Cowboys playing strong thus far in 2021. Sitting at 10-4 and in first place in the NFC East, McCarthy has some bold plans for Dallas.
After a 21-6 victory over the New York Giants that was never in doubt, McCarthy laid out a challenge to the Cowboys.
“We got the momentum, so let’s keep it going. Let’s stay on point,” McCarthy stated, via Jon Machota of The Athletic. “From here on in, we’re just gonna be climbing that ladder to that No. 1 seed. That’s the way you gotta look at it.”
While it may have sounded outlandish a couple weeks ago, Dallas is right there in the race for the top seed in the NFC. The Green Bay Packers currently lead the way at 11-3, but the Cowboys, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Rams are all tied one game behind.
The one seed certainly isn’t out of the question for the Cowboys. However, it won’t be easy — McCarthy and company have three tough games to end their season.
First, the Washington Football Team will be out for revenge against Dallas on Sunday Night Football this weekend. Then, the highly-powered Arizona Cardinals offense comes to town. Finally, Dallas goes back on the road to end their season — an NFC East rivalry showdown with the Eagles ending their season in Philadelphia.
Time will tell if Mike McCarthy can grab the one seed for the Dallas Cowboys. If we’ve learned anything this season, it’s don’t count out his team.

More on the Dallas Cowboys in 2021
Mike McCarthy is looking towards the future of his Cowboys. If the present is any indication, the future is more than bright in Dallas.
Thus far in 2021, the Cowboys have ascended into one of the top teams in the NFC. Quarterback Dak Prescott looks like a star on offense, and defensive back Trevon Diggs and linebacker Micah Parsons look like stars on defense.
After defeating the New York Giants on Sunday, Dallas won their third straight game to advance to 10-4 on the season. Additionally, they’ve won all three games away from Dallas. Now, they get two home games before ending their season against the Eagles in Philadelphia.
While it would take a huge slip by the Green Bay Packers to secure the one seed, the Cowboys are in tremendous shape for the playoffs. Watching Dallas in 2021, it’s tough to see the Cowboys not being a perennial contender for the foreseeable future.
